Hoop-It-Up 2004 Champs

Standing out from the crowd

One of the most visible teams at Hoop-It-Up was also among the best.

Sista' Hoops, which were hard to miss in their bright yellow jerseys, won the female Top Gun division after what Kimball-ex Umeki Webb described as "so-so" competition during the tournament.

"I really want to see more women's teams in the Top Gun," said Webb, a former WNBA guard who now plays overseas.

Sista' Hoops is a line of women's basketball apparel founded by Irving's Ricky Talkington, who once began a clothing line with former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin.

Breaking Ankles player gets well-deserved break

Like any newly minted champion, Plano's Alex Cunningham will take some time off.

Cunningham rallied The Breaking Ankles to the 10-and-under championship, draining a pair of heaved 2-pointers at the end. After making the off-balance game-winner, his teammates' parents rushed the court and carried him around the parking lot.

The Cunningham family leaves for a one-week European vacation today, but after his heroics, Alex said he was looking more forward to "going home and sleep."
